The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle– a Review by Micah

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle Where to begin… This is a wonderful coming of age, mystery, suspense, and even slightly historical novel by Avi. This book takes place in the summer of 1832. Charlotte Doyle is thirteen and has been living at Barrington School for Better Girls in Liverpool, England. She is excited to return home to her family in Providence, Rhode Island. But things start to go terribly wrong; for starters the two families that were supposed to accompany her on the journey mysteriously don’t show up and she is left on a ship with a strange crew and a Captain with a supposedly not so nice past. She is thrown into the middle of a conspiracy and is then   tried for murder!

This is all in all one of my new favorite books. I am refraining from saying more in hopes of keeping the story for you to uncover! What is your favorite book. Why?

  1. Micah, I really loved this book, too, and am so glad that you decided to do a review on it! Your review was intriguing without giving too much away!

  2. Sounds good! I have several favorite series/books:

The Missing Series By Margaret Peterson Haddix (Mostly because I love Time Travel)

Anne of Green Gables (series) My favorite book in the series is Rilla of Ingleside (It’s about WWI)

Lastly, either LoTR or my Sherlock Holmes collection book.

    That about covers it!

    1. Yes!! I have been wanting to read The Missing Series. And I absolutely Love The Lord of The Rings!!!!
